Perfect in practically every way September 3, 2009 Rellorba (Catonsville, MD) 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
I love the straw and I love that it flips down. It stays out of sight of my two sons grubby hands. I love the loop at the top so that I can grab it quickly. I love that you have to bite the straw to get the water out because that will keep my one year old out of it for at least a little while. My 2 year old figured out how to do it in a day. It's well made and sturdy. I wish the neck of the bottle was a little wider because it makes pouring water or putting ice in it just a little harder. I bought the insulating sleeve and can't imagine this bottle without it. It cuts down on all the condensation, keeps my drinks colder for longer and has a strap on it that lets me hook the drink to my purse when I have no hands free. I recommend the insulating sleeve just as much as I recommend the bottle! I am very happy with this bottle!
Best I've ever used September 28, 2009 Brian J. Binder (WI) 15 out of 18 found this review helpful
I can't say enough about this bottle, but I'll try and stay somewhat brief...
Went and purchased this at an REI store and not through Amazon. I see Amazon has it listed as .75 Liter but mine is a .5 Liter bottle, for what it's worth.
I got sick of using plastic bottles and having them around with me in the car - just not convenient. Plus, I usually do a ton of talking during my 1 hour+ commutes from site to site and well, plastic water bottles just make my water get lukewarm pretty quickly. Not much for carrying coolers around either...
The construction is quite impressive to me. I was worrying about paying 30 dollars for this and being disappointed, but I'm perfectly happy with it. The stainless steel body is obviously a little bit heavy, and I don't mind that at all - feels nice and solid in my hand. There is absolutely no condensation, period. I put ice cubes in this with water and after 10 hours, my ice cubes are still in there and the water is ultra-cold.
The top bite valve was a new experience for me and I find it very unique and has a nice cool-factor. I thought my tongue would get pinched in it or something but it never has - not once. It also keeps things out of the straw area so you could simply wipe off the outside of it if you had to and not worry about anything going down the straw itself.
I even keep it at the bed at night because I hate getting up to get a glass of cold water if I'm thirsty at night. I used to have a plastic bottle for this purpose and the ice would always melt quickly and then the water would be warm by the time I woke up to drink it. With this, the water always stays cold whenever I'm thirsty.
I leave it in my car, laying down on the seat or in my cup-holder. It never leaks a drip, period; even if I store it upside down on a passenger seat.
I was deciding between one of these versus a SIGG or Klean Kanteen and I got to compare the KK and Camelbak side-by-side at REI. I was simply impressed with this over the KK. The KK's likely are nice, but I was already annoyed about the twist-tops that squeal any time you open or close them. Not like it's a deal-breaker, but ths tops of the Camelbak are a nice plastic that doesn't leak or squeak.
The finger-holder on the top of the flip-spout section is great too, but it is a little bit of weight on a single finger if your hands aren't used to it. I'd buy another one of these without thinking twice.
perfect size, and it even works September 9, 2009 Spire (fargo, nd) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
My Wife purchased this bottle for use around the house, at the gym, and on hikes. it works great - the volume of the container is the right amount, the bitevalve works great without any spills when the bottle is inverted, the bottle is stainless steel, so there's little plastic in constant contact with the water, and the art on it looks stylish. it took her some getting used to however - the internal straw makes it so you hold the bottle like a cup (no tilting) and after you take a drink, you need to bite the valve and allow gravity to pull the water in the bite tube down into the container, otherise, when you fold the bite valve toward the clip, the water that was in the bite tube will leak onto the cap. also, this bottle is not insulated.
Camelbak .75 liter March 17, 2010 EcoMamaB (California, USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is only my second stainless steel water bottle but I love it. My first one was only 16 ounces and had a sport top that leaked out its vent hole, and it would sweat like crazy. I've had the Camelbak one for two days now and haven't found a thing to complain about. Amazon sent me the wrong one- I wanted a plain stainless steel but got the one with the green instead- but it works great, doesn't sweat, and the bite valve is easier to use than I expected. The ONLY downside is it won't fit in a standard cupholder, but that's not a problem in the car, since it doesn't leak no matter how it falls over or gets shaken around.
Great -unless condensation or "seeing" your water level are important April 21, 2010 R. Mimbs 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
If you've never tried a Camelbak, then you must. You'll drink more water and actually enjoy doing so.
Bought this to replace my pre-2008 Camelbak (they didn't go BPA free until then). I imagine the stainless steel will hold up to drops on concrete and asphalt better. My girlfriend prefers the plastic model because she can see the water level. I get by fine just shaking it and "feeling" how full it is, but something to consider. Also, I own both kinds and the metal one does form more condensation. Again, not exactly a big deal but a potential buyer might want to know.
You can put your finger through the little hole at top when you are walking. My girlfriend uses a carabiner to hook it onto her laptop bag when she goes to work.
One potential drawback. This thing doesn't fit fully down inside my Mazda 3 cup holder. I own both this size and the smaller one that does fit, but I prefer this one. Camelbaks don't spill if they tip over and I'd rather carry more water.
Oh, and about the company. I once developed a tear in my Camelbak hydration pack (different product). The company replaced it with one phone call and no hassle.
